Zachary Mainen is an American/Portuguese neuroscientist. He heads the Systems Neuroscience Laboratory at the Champalimaud Foundation and the Latent States project at the Waking Life festival. His research interests include psychedelics, sensory perception and artificial intelligence. As a member of the Lunar Ring collective, he is using immersive art installations to explore the potential of novel forms of human-machine interaction.
