Xexa (PT)
XEXA is a multidisciplinary Afro-futurist artist with ancestry from São Tomé and Príncipe. She holds diplomas in Jewellery Making from António Arroio, Lisbon, and Sound Arts from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Her work reflects the exploration of sounds, creating a hybrid of traditional African rhythms with synthesizers, sound design, and vocals. XEXA is a producer, composer, singer, sound designer, and surround sound engineer, known for illustrating a distinctive sound palette. She has showcased her music at festivals and venues across Europe, including Festival Iminente, ZDB, Berghain Halle, Sónar Festival Lisbon, Nuits Sonores Brussels, Festival Semibreve Braga, Café OTO London, The White Hotel, Milan Design Week, among others. She was commissioned to produce music for the British Music Library, CMMAS, Lagos Art Biennale, Gnration, Culturgest, and Lisbon Fashion Week. XEXA independently released her mixtape “Calendário Sonoro” in 2021. Her debut album “Vibrações de Prata” was released through the Príncipe Discos label in October 2023.
