Sara Barriga Brighenti (PT)
Sara Brighenti specialises in museums, artistic and educational programming. Deputy Commissioner of the National Arts Plan. She was director of the Money Museum and coordinated the education and audience engagement sector at the Paula Rego House of Stories Museum. She was an education consultant at the Viriato Theatre, cultural programmer, educator at art museums, cultural centres and heritage sites. She advised the Ministry of Education on the curriculum for specialised art education and collaborated with UNESCO and the High Commission for Migration in the areas of artistic literacy and intercultural education. She has a Master’s degree in Visual Arts, a postgraduate qualification in Museology / Cultural Heritage, Visual Arts Didactics and Leadership. She has been a teacher and trainer. She is the author of books, chronicles, textbooks and teaching aids. Between 2019 and 2020, she took part in the Museums of the Future Project Group, having co-authored the report for the universe of Museums, Palaces and Monuments. In 2021, she promoted and co-authored the Porto Santo Charter, a European document that promotes cultural citizenship. Recently, she collaborated with UNESCO in drawing up the UNESCO Framework for Cultural and Artistic Education – adopted in 2024, having coordinated the thematic White Paper on institutional cooperation in the culture and education sectors.
