Carla Fernandes (PT)

Carla Fernandes holds a degree in Translation, a master’s degree in Communication, and is trained in International Journalism. She is an Angolan writer, translator, and cultural producer. She is the creator of the Afrolis podcast and founder of Afrolis – Cultural Association, two platforms dedicated to the narratives of Black people living in Lisbon. She was the organiser and co-author of the poetry collection Djidiu a Herança do Ouvido – Doze formas mais uma de se falar da experiência negra em Lisboa (2018). She is the author of the 10-episode radio drama It takes a village (2018), produced by the German radio station Deutsche Welle, where she worked for 5 years and trained in International Journalism. She is the official translator in Portugal of Amanda Gorman’s works The Hill We Climb, The Change Sings, and What We Carry. She also authored the children’s book Uma Visita Inesperada (2022) and directed the documentary Nós Não Viemos do Vazio (2024).
