Carolina Viana first became known through redoma, a duo from Porto with a rap sound and a deconstructed, poetic rhythm, which she formed with producer Joana Rodrigues. In 2023, she took a solo step out of redoma, seeking an individual language and adopting the artistic persona of MALVA, with the release of her debut album “vens ou ficas” in October (included in several lists of the best national albums of the year). This album introduces listeners to her introspective and reflective universe, through her voice, acoustic guitar, electric bass, and cello. MALVA also collaborated with Inês APENAS on the track “Tensa,” which was featured on Spotify’s editorial playlist EQUAL GLOBAL, and won the ‘Best Super Emerging Musical Project’ award, as voted by the jury, at the Emergente Festival (2023).
