Rui Matoso is a researcher in cultural policies, a lecturer at ESAD.CR, and a producer. He holds a Master’s degree in Cultural Practices for Municipalities (FCSH – UNL) and a specialist title (IPL – Lisbon, 2017). At ESAD.CR, he teaches in the undergraduate programme in Cultural Programming and Production and in the Master’s programme in Cultural Management. He has conducted research at ZKM | Center for Art and Media (Karlsruhe) and was a research fellow at the Vilém Flusser Archive (Berlin, Universität der Künste). He served as a scientific consultant for Artemrede for the 2015-2020 Strategic and Operational Plan. He co-edited the book Art and Photography in Media Environments (Edições Lusófonas / European Communication Research and Education Association, 2016). In 2019, he was the Moderator and Rapporteur for the 3rd Meeting of PERFORMART – Association for Performing Arts, on the theme “Decentralisation – and Now?”. In 2023, he was part of the Scientific and Artistic Committee of INN2023 – I International Conference on Media Innovation (FCSH-UNL). He organised, translated, and edited the book Imagem, Arte e Cibernética – Vilém Flusser (Edições Lusófonas, 2022).
