Maribel Mendes Sobreira (PT)
Is a philosopher and an accidental architect, navigating between critical thinking, writing, teaching, research, and expanded curatorship. With a Master’s degree in Philosophy from the University of Lisbon, she is currently preparing her doctoral dissertation in Aesthetics and Philosophy of Art, exploring the concept of space in its ontological and social dimensions and its implications for the formation of subjectivity.

Maribel also taught from 2014 to 2019 in the areas of Aesthetics and Landscape Ethics at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia and the Department of Philosophy at the University of Lisbon. As a co-founder of ColectivoFACA, she leads a project that questions cultural and visual narratives, promoting a critical and intersectional reading of History.
Her curatorial activism is evident in conferences, lectures, and reading workshops that address themes such as queer culture, feminism, and anti-racism. Maribel is the author of several essays, including “The Art of Feminist-Queering the Museum: Gate-leaking” (2021), “Questioning the Question” (2022), and “Unlearn the System” (2023).
