Arcoíris Award 2022 from the Ministry of Equality, RNE’s Ojo Crítico Award 2021 for Modern Music, MIN Award 2020 for “New Artist” and “Best Fusion and World Music Album”, Camaretá Award for the best song for his composition Rambalín, Rodrigo Cuevas (Oviedo, 1985) is a phenomenon of the performing arts as well as of communication in its broadest sense. Folk agitator, sex symbol of zarzuela and cabaret, champion of the copla, spearhead of electrocuplé and total artist, Rodrigo Cuevas has an academic musical education: intermediate piano degree, tuba studies at the Conservatory of Oviedo as well as three years of Sonology in Barcelona. Rodrigo Cuevas likes to surround the traditional song with other genres, he enjoys making electronic music converse with humor, sensuality and social criticism, turning his shows into a unique cultural and sensory experience with denomination of origin. “Trópico de Covadonga”, his third show, has meant the artistic consolidation of Rodrigo Cuevas at national level having filled practically all the performances of his tour that at Spanish level concluded in March 2022 in a sold-out Teatro Circo Price since weeks before the date. The tour of Trópico de Covadonga continues its international tour for the rest of 2022 and during the first months of 2023, mainly in Europe: France, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Portugal, Germany… “Manual de Cortejo” (Aris Música), is Rodrigo’s second studio album with which he harvests excellent reviews and thanks to which he is on the best of 2020 and 2021 lists for the general media (El País, El Mundo, Radio 3…) as well as for the specialized music press. It has just been released on the French market. An avid, restless, multifaceted artist, Rodrigo Cuevas stars in “BARBIÁN”, a cabaret zarzuela directed by Fernando Carmena which premiered at Veranos de la Villa and has been performed at the Teatro de la Zarzuela among others. This year it has been presented at the Oviedo Zarzuela Season and also at the Embassat, Primavera Sound and Vida Festival. During the last months Rodrigo has made record collaborations with Los Hermanos Cubero, San Jerónimo, El Hijo, Baiuca, Clara Peya and Vicente Navarro. Some others, very juicy, will be released in the coming months. 2021 and 2022 have been the year of his consecration in Spain as well as the year of his international exploration with successful visits to the Arab Emirates (Spain Pavilion at Expo Dubai and Sharja Art Foundation), official showcase at Womex Oporto, Transmusicales Festival in Rennes (France), Paris, Miami, Portugal, etc.
