José-Manuel Gonçalves (PT)
With higher studies in Social Practices, a career start as a sports trainer, the responsibility of a first space at the age of 21, the promotion of French culture abroad at the age of 35, the direction of a national scene (La Ferme du Buisson, in Marne-La-Vallée) at the age of 38… It is a singular path that led José-Manuel Gonçalvès to the head of one of the current hotspots of contemporary culture in Paris. As the director of the CENTQUATRE-PARIS since 2010, producer of the 2014 and 2015 Nuit Blanche, curator of many exhibitions such as most recently the contemporary art circuit Paysages Bordeaux 2017 and Panorama 20 at Le Fresnoy – National Studio, the Director of the artistic and cultural project of the Grand Paris Express has multi-faceted curiosities. He also curated the contemporary art circuit launched in June 2019 during the cultural season in Bordeaux: Liberté ! The CENTQUATRE-PARIS is at once space for artistic production and a venue for the production of innovation in the field of creative industries.
