Maria Reis launches this April “A Flor da Nettle”. Recorded in the final stretch of 2020 in Lisbon in collaboration with Noah Lennox (Panda Bear, Animal Collective), as producer and co-instrumentalist, the album was published on Cafetra Records, a label that the artist founded with friends over a decade ago . Quoting herself about the modes and forms of the new collection of themes: “What hurts and is good. That grows free and untamable. The nettle blooms like all other flowers. Songs about family, love, the emotional abyss and integrity – and other things in between.” Her solo discography includes 2019’s “Chove na Sala, Água nos Olhos”, celebrated on stage in a monumental night at Culturgest’s Grand Auditorium in February 2020, and the inaugural EP “Maria” , 2017. Forever remains the legacy of the rock band Pega Monstro that she formed and conducted with his sister Júlia Reis, either for the memorable songs and concerts, or for the example of the cultural and civic agency they promoted. Maria has also been regularly collaborating with names such as Sara Graça, Joana da Conceição, Gabriel Ferrandini, Miguel Abras or Rudi Brito in concerts, multimedia artistic presentations, music and poetry editing.
