Target audience: agents from the cultural sector (cultural managers, curators, artists, educators, representatives of cultural institutions) and journalists

Description: This laboratory, which will take place before, during and after the MIL Convention, is a practical opportunity to explore concepts related to anti-racist education and struggle, both in the cultural field and beyond. The lab aims to promote the understanding and application of these concepts through direct experiences, highlighting the re-awareness of the importance of theory and the urgency of re-actions to celebrate April’s values and strengthen collective national and international commitments and guarantee rights and reparations. These are meetings to create awareness, dialog and memory through artistic and public interventions. To memorialize and multiply, the process will be evaluated and documented in the next edition of MIL Magazine.

It’s for Whiteness; it’s about your narcissistic pact; it’s about our life sentence. It’s about Portugal, the world, you and us. It’s about the now; the present time; the future we want.

Goals:

  • To explore concepts related to education and the anti-racist struggle in a cultural context.
  • To promote dialog and critical reflection on whiteness and its implications.
  • To apply artistic and public interventions to create awareness and memory.
  • Document and evaluate the process for future publications and reflections.
