Gil Dionísio (PT)

Gil Dionísio, born in 1988, is a self-taught multidisciplinary artist. As a musician, he has released more than twenty albums, exploring a wide range of styles from punk to traditional music, from noise to electronica, and from fado to classical and contemporary music. He stands out for his work with the violin, piano and extensive research into the voice and its social impact.

In addition to music, Dionísio is a lyricist, essayist and writer, with an anti-system communication and practice. As a director, he has made several music videos, short films and a feature film in collaboration with Clara Andermatt and with the support of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Since 2009, he has been making radio about music for cinema and, since 2020, he has been the founder of RÁDIO TRAUMA, a web radio with anti-capitalist and anti-fascist programming.

Despite having written several texts, Dionísio has so far refused to write a book. However, the CONTOS E LENGA LENDAS project, which includes a book of short stories that has already been published, reflects many of his ideas in a poetic and encrypted form. Dionísio also stands out as a promoter and curator of cultural events, being a member of several labels and publishers, such as EXOTIC UNDERGROUND, OLMYPO and recently FAROL NEBLINA and OH COMES RAZOR.

Since 2016, he has been DJing, being responsible for the dancefloor at Baile do Engate and regularly presenting the live act & dj set of NO NAZIS IN PUNK, a proudly anti-fascist DJ set. Recently, he launched the LEGAL IS ILLEGAL program in radio/podcast format, as well as a new EP by Pás de Problème, including the song “DAT KOP”. He also debuted the experimental project RITOS E MITOS DE DIONÍSIO, with the single “Já não consigo mais, mas vou continuar”, and is about to release a new solo album by SONS DE EMBALAR, entitled “SONS DE EMBALAR PARA TEMPOS DE BÓFIA”.
