Wednesday, 25 September16h00 - 17h00Sala Confeitaria CONVERSA / TALK

The night-time economy plays an increasingly important role in modern cities, contributing significantly to economic, social and cultural development. This sector is crucial to defining urban identity, being a vital space for cultural expression, social innovation, community resilience and the promotion of inclusion and diversity. Effective policies for the night-time economy are essential to maximize the benefits and mitigate the challenges associated with this vital component of urban life.

In this talk, we’ll look at good practices and lessons learned from the experience of four European cities: Amsterdam, Bologna, Brussels and Vienna. We will ask how the night-time economy ecosystem is assessed in each city, the main challenges faced, the priority intervention areas, and the governance model adopted. We will also discuss the main measures implemented, the most desired, the short- and medium-term objectives and the main results achieved.
These issues will serve as a starting point for a deeper analysis of how policies for the night-time economy can shape and improve urban life.
