The first time Kelman Duran was invited to play at a party, they opened the set with “Suicidal Thoughts” by Biggie Smalls. Now, with sets decidedly more festive, the visual artist and DJ of Dominican origin has been conquering dance floors around the world since his debut album 1804 KIDS (2017) and now with his latest album 13th MONTH (2018). His music is an uncompromising fusion of Afro-Caribbean rhythms with contemporary sounds. In Kelman’s hands, reggaeton, kuduro, hip-hop and dancehall as we know them are deconstructed to give way to ethereal beats.
