Candeleros (SP)
Candeleros is a Spanish/South American sextet based in Madrid. Caribbean sounds, particularly Afro-Venezuelan and Afro-Colombian, are the backbone of this musical experimentation that results in a psychedelic ritual guided by the trance of percussion, drum machines, delays, guitar melodies, and synthesizers. From the pulsating rhythms of Sangueos and Quitiplas to the energy of Culo e’ Puya and Cumbia, mixed with psychedelia, punk energy, and urban rhythms, their compositions are a journey through the rich traditions of the Caribbean and Latin America, passing through the vibrant Madrid of the 21st century, immersing us in an authentic musical ritual at each of their concerts. Candeleros has performed at many internationally prominent events and festivals such as TransMusicales (France), Jazz sous les Pommiers, LAMC NYC, SXSW 2021-2023 (USA), Sziget Festival (Hungary), Boom Festival (Portugal), Sonorama Ribera, Festival BAM, Sinsal, and Monkey Week (Spain). They have also played at the Forum do Futuro in Porto, Baile Tropicante in Lisbon, Muévelo! in Paris, and Movimientos in London.
