João Carlos Martins holds a Ph.D. in Sociology (2015) by NOVA University of Lisbon, a Master’s in Urban Anthropology (2009) and Degree in Sociology (2004). Is an Integrate Member of CICS.NOVA and Associated Member of CinTurs. Is Assistant Professor in the University of the Algarve. It developed professional tasks as urban consultor in local intervention and action research projects on Lisbon waterfront. It was post doctorate researcher experiences on European funded projects in the areas of Urban Regeneration, Cultural Heritage, and Sustainable Tourism in Lisbon and the Algarve. Its research activities have been developed in the interplay of multidimensional questions around Tourism, Participation, Nightlife, Leisure, Cultural Heritage, Young People, Creative and Knowledge Cities and Post COVID-19 achievements. Works in the area(s) of Social Sciences with emphasis on Sociology, Anthropology and Economic, Cultural and Social Geography with emphasis on Cultural and Urban Studies.
