CIGARRA is a music producer and performer with over 15 years of experience in Europe and Brazil. With 3 EPs, an album (as Trypas Corassão), and numerous tracks released worldwide, she has also contributed to 10 soundtracks for performance, dance, and theater. In her sonic creations, CIGARRA delves into sample research, exploring plunderphonics and copyleft, to unveil a popular, peripheral, and contemporary culture as the rhythmic foundation. She also studies concrete sounds extracted from diverse spaces, recontextualizing them in her soundtracks for performative shows.
Her work embraces the potentials of feminine and LGBTQIA+ expression, inspiring a legion of followers to sing in unison on her dancefloor. CIGARRA’s discourse and engagement also make her an important reference in the current underground electronic scene in Portugal and Latin America.
