Glockenwise (PT)
With an unpretentious rock sound, typical of young people who have nothing more important to do than create songs, Glockenwise made their debut with the albums “Building Waves” (2011), “Leeches” (2013), and “Heats” (2015). However, maturity arrived, and the punk urgency slowed down. In 2018, a different Glockenwise emerged, with the Portuguese language taking the lead. “Plástico” (released by Portuguese major label Valentim de Carvalho) was the first album of the band’s new phase (voted as the national album of the year by Antena 3 and Público). It offers a mix of everyday prosaic gestures and profound themes. This was followed by the acclaimed new album “Gótico Português” (published by the band’s very own label Vida Vã) as a cry for artistic independence, released in February 2023, receiving 5-star reviews from Expresso and Time Out, and 4.5 stars from Público.
