Residency WBM & MIL feat. Obsequeen, Iris and Surma

Announcing this year’s MIL residency.

This year’s residency at MIL is in collaboration with Wallonie-Bruxelles Musique. The organization brings us two emerging artists from the Belgian experimental scene: Obsequeen and Iris.

Obsequeen navigates the lines between intimacy and intimidation, with her ethereal voice and minimalist piano standing out from the created sonic landscape. It’s defined as an ode to love and the duality of the human being. Alongside Iris, an artist with a classical musical background and a composer and multi-instrumentalist, they will present a digitally electrified moment.

The duo joins forces with Surma, a project created by Débora Umbelino in 2015. She is a Portuguese artist, born in Leiria, known for her use of keyboards, samplers, strings, and synthesized voices to create music that blends elements of jazz and post-rock. They will participate in a residency in Lisbon that will culminate in a unique and unrepeatable concert as part of the MIL 2023 program.
